Los Traficantes (NEW!)

“Los Traficantes”

My new feature length project

Behind the scenes preview of Los Traficantes

In January 2011, after shooting in the rough neighborhoods of Tijuana, Mexico for two weeks, I wrapped my first feature length film. It’s a Spanish language film about the redemption of a Tijuana drug lord.

In May, 2010 I gave my short film, “The Lost One”, to a man named Kurt Tuffendsam, who worked in post production at a division of Deluxe. It turns out that he is also a film producer and one night he invited me over to dinner and asked if I wanted to write and direct his new film, the first of a series. The film is about a man named Esteban from Tijuana who rose to power as a drug lord, only to end up in prison with a sentence of 33 years. There he became a Christian and once he was released from prison he started a church network that is now 40 strong as well as several orphanages and drug rehab centers. His story is an amazing one that could have easily been made in to two feature length movies. The producer is starting an organization called Mission Rise Inc. that is also a production company where he intends to make several films per year and distribute them as a sort of video magazine, meant to educate viewers and subscribers about different Christian mission fields from different parts of the world. The film is the first “issue”.

You might wonder how I directed this film when I don’t speak Spanish. Well, it’s difficult. But acting transcends spoken language and I am therefore able to perceive the nuances in an actor’s performance and give direction.

We’re in post production now and hope to have the movie completed by the end of the summer.

This is a massive opportunity for me and I want to thank everyone who has supported and collaborated with me over the years.
